Fraxel (Laser Treatment)

At the Dr Tass cosmetic clinics in Melbourne, our cosmetic medical practitioners use Fraxel Dual Laser Treatment for facial rejuvenation.

What is Fraxel Laser Resurfacing?

Fraxel Laser Treatment is a non-surgical technique which uses a laser to minimise the appearance of scars, lines and wrinkles, as well as improve the overall texture and surface of the skin. Fraxel Dual is a laser treatment that uses two wavelengths for different skin concerns.

How Does Fraxel Laser Work?

Fraxel Dual is a non-ablative fractional resurfacing laser, which is unlike other laser treatments. Fraxel is able to precisely treat thousands of microscopic columns of skin, using pinpoint laser beams that penetrate beneath the skin's surface to eliminate old, damaged skin cells. The microscopic columns of treated skin are eliminated slowly over many weeks as they are replaced by healthy new tissue. You will find that your skin improves in thickness, elasticity, texture, colour and tone.

What to expect during a Fraxel dual procedure and after treatment:

A local anaesthetic cream is applied to the area 45 minutes to an hour prior to the procedure. The Fraxel Laser is rolled several times across the entire area it is treating. Cool air is used during the treatment to calm the treated area.

Depending on the level of treatment, you may experience redness or swelling after the procedure which diminishes as quickly as the next day or over the next few days. Your skin will naturally bronze over the next week or two. As with sunburn your skin will flake and exfoliate normally, revealing fresher, glowing and smoother looking and feeling skin.

Main Benefits of Fraxel Treatments:

  • Reduction in facial wrinkles and fine lines
  • Restoration of smooth, fresh, youthful skin
  • Balanced skin tone and improved texture
  • Reduction in the visibility of scars (left by surgery or acne)

Fraxel DUAL 1550/1927 resurfacing treatments effectively target both the surface and deeper layers of the skin.

Is Fraxel Safe?

The machine is FDA and TGA approved for use, which means it is backed by extensive research. With a track record of over 800,000 treatments, Fraxel technology is proven to be safe and effective for multiple indications. Of course, as with any laser procedure there?s always some risk and downtime. You can discuses your options with Dr Tass prior to your treatment.
